About me

So you want to know more about me? Well I’ll give you a quick overview, and if you want more information you can read my resume. My name is Jason Mohan, and I work for a health care company in Houston with 21 hospitals, serving as the Director of IT. I’m in charge of infrastructure and datacenter operations.  I’ve included a brief history about me, my experience, and project I’ve worked on in my personal time.

My Philosophy

You can never learn enough especially in this field. Learn by researching, testing and applying. That’s why I have my own server lab at home, where I test new software, and try out stuff in a live environment, and apply what I learn at my current job. My second and probably most important belief is don’t be a big shot. Someone is always more knowledgeable than you in any one given area, no matter how much you think you know. Always learn, and give back to the community that’s helped you, and help others. That’s why I maintain this blog, hoping it would help others, on questions or problems I’ve encountered.

My Personal Projects

Tracker Project: This was a college project (University of Houston) that I started back in the days. I created this project in ASP in an effort to learn ASP for a programming class. I built a basic test version, but never released it to the public. Then in 2008, I wanted to learn php, and mysql, so I took up this project again, and decided to rewrite it completely from the ground up in php, and learned php that way. I plan on releasing the helpdesk software someday but due to the time I have it’s been pretty challenging to get a good version out the door.

HelptoSay: A web based application that I created for the iphone and blackberry. This project got great reviews and was listed on Apple’s site as a staff pick. It’s a mobile web application written in PHP for the iphone and blackberry. It helps you find the word you are looking for, like let’s say a friends loses a loved one, or a friend is getting married, what do you say? Fileattache: A web based application that was written to attach large files into emails. Bascially it works by allow you to email an large file, through a webservice.  Go to Fileattache.com for more information.

Management: Managing and deployment of the following: Windows servers, Data center operations, Citrix Farm, Terminal Server Farms, Exchange 2003 / 2007, Rightfax, BES 4.5 and 5.0, Email encryption, DNS, SQL 2000/2005, Symantec, VMware ESX, EMC San, and much more.
